浅谈“冠词”的用法

 

冠词是高考单项填空必考的语法项目之一,一般每年有一道小题,两个空。因为冠词用法比较灵活,往往随着语境的变化而变化,并且固定搭配和特例较多，失分的考生比较多。现结合历年高考试题,归纳冠词的考点。

考点一　不定冠词的使用规则

规则1不定冠词后面的单词的第一个音素为辅音音素时，用a；而不定冠词后面的单词的第一个音素为元音音素时，用an。

【温馨提示】 判断用a还是用an的依据是其后单词的发音，而不是字母。如：

a university student, a unique style, a European writer, an honest boy, an x­ray, an 800­metre­long bridge等。

规则2“a/an＋可数名词单数”常用来表示泛指。

规则3序数词前面加不定冠词a/an表示“再一，又一”之意。如：

She didn’t like the color of the two bags and asked for a third one.

她不喜欢这两个包的颜色，又要了一个。

规则4在“of＋a/an＋可数名词单数”结构中，不定冠词a/an表示“同一，相同”。如：

Birds of a feather flock together.

[谚]物以类聚，人以群分。

规则5不定冠词a/an用在姓氏和星期名称前表示“某一个，有一个”。也可指与某人有类似性质的人或事物，相当于“a certain”。如：

A Mr. Li is waiting for you.一位李先生在等你。

规则6a/an在表示时间和度量单位的名词前，表示“每一”。如：

twenty miles an hour。

规则7不定冠词a/an用在某些抽象名词和物质名词前，表示“一种，一件，一个……”之意；如果这些名词前有形容词修饰，则不定冠词通常不可少。如：

What a lovely surprise to see you again!

又见到你是一件多么令人惊喜的事情啊！

规则8moon, sky, world等表示世界上独一无二的事物被形容词修饰时前面要加不定冠词a/an。如：a full moon。

规则9不定冠词a/an用于most前表示程度，意为：“非常，十分”。如：

It‘s a most boring book.这是一本非常乏味的书。

规则10用于固定短语中。如：

a few, a little, a number of, once in a while, all of a sudden, have a swim/walk/talk/dance/look/quarrel, a good many等。

考点二　定冠词的使用规则

规则1方位名词east, west, south, north, left, right, front, middle和时间名词past, future前都要用定冠词the。

【温馨提示】 这些方位名词作副词用时不加冠词。如：

He was then heading east for the school farm.他当时正朝东向学校农场走去。

规则2定冠词用于姓氏名称的复数前，表示“一家人或夫妇俩”。

规则3by 和计量单位名词连用时，名词前要用冠词the。如：

by the yard/the meter/the dozen/the month/the year/the hour。

但如果该名词为不可数名词时，则不用冠词。如：

by weight/volume/area。

规则4当西方乐器名称作play的宾语时，名词前必须加定冠词the。

规则5名词由短语或定语从句修饰而成为特指时要加定冠词the；但是，该名词被修饰以后仍然表泛指时就不能用定冠词。如：

This morning I saw a woman who looked like your aunt.

规则6用在世界上独一无二的人或物、自然现象、表示发明物等的名词前。如：

The earth moves around the sun.地球围绕太阳转。

Alexander Bell invented the telephone in 1876.

1876年亚历山大·贝尔发明了电话。

【温馨提示】 有些物体虽然也是独一无二的，但习惯上却不用冠词。如：space太空，nature自然，man人类，等。

考点三　零冠词的使用规则

规则1物质名词和抽象名词都是不可数名词，泛指总称时不用冠词。如：

　/　 Wealth does not always bring 　/　 happiness.

规则2class, school, church, college, university, hospital, prison, court, bed, table等名词，当我们取它们的功能意义作某一目的用时，不加冠词；如果这些名词表示“场所”时，要加冠词。如：

(1)He left 　/　 school at the age of 18. 他18岁毕业。

(2)They live near 　a　 school.

他们住在一所学校附近。

规则3society表示“社会”时，space表示“星球间的距离，即太空”时， nature表示“大自然”时，most表示“大多数”时，man表示“人类”时，其前都不用冠词。

规则4“…kind of＋名词”中的名词不用冠词，类似的名词还有：type, sort, species。如：

Today’s vehicles use two kinds of 　/　 fuel—petrol and diesel.如今的车辆使用两种燃料——汽油和柴油。

规则5在动词turn之后作表语的名词前不用冠词。在as(虽然)引导的让步状语从句前面的单数可数名词前不用冠词。

规则6学科名词，球类运动和棋牌类游戏名词前不用冠词。如：play football踢足球。

规则7表示职位、身份、头衔的名词作表语、补语和同位语，以及表示季节、年份、日期的名词前，不用冠词。

规则8多数街名、广场名、车站、机场、公园、桥梁名、大学名、节日名、杂志名前不用冠词。如：

Time Square时代广场， St. Valentine's Day情人节， Reader's Digest《读者文摘》…

规则9一些习语中常使用零冠词。如：

at table在吃饭， on purpose故意的， lose face丢脸， within reach of在……够得着的地方， in case of假如，万一。

【解析】此句的第一空特指“跳高中的金牌”，故用定冠词the；第二空意为：再得到一次机会，泛指“一次机会”。句意：他在跳高中失去了金牌，但他在跳远中将得到一次机会。

【解析】第一空Information Age前加定冠词the为固定说法；第二空根据句意“据说我们正生活在信息时代，一个充满新发现和巨大变化的时代。”用不定冠词。故答案选D。

【解析】第一空process是可数名词，第一次出现一般用不定冠词，且此次表示“一个”的概念；第二空existence是不可数名词，其此处表示抽象概念，故用零冠词。

【解析】hotel为复数，前不用定冠词来修饰；江河湖海前要加定冠词。
